Village History
The links above provide a selection of articles, maps, photographs and books, relevant to the history of the village of Moorside. Much of the material has kindly been provided by members of the church’s congregation - Maureen Walsh in particular, in addition to copies of documents held at Oldham’s Local Studies and Archives, visitors to the website, and many other sources.
On many of the photographs, dates are unknown, and an estimate has been made on the period when the shots were taken - please let us know if you can clarify these dates. Any information regarding the photographs and the identity of any of the people shown would also be welcomed where none is shown, or where the names are believed to be incorrect.
It is planned that this part of the site will be continually updated, as new photographs, information, articles are discovered or contributed. All communications will be acknowledged, but if no response is received within a few days of any e-mails, please call me as I have been advised of a number of e-mails being sent which I didn’t receive.
