Church Magazine

The church magazine is published at the beginning of each month and in addition to the topical message from the Vicar, contains a diary of church and social events in the forthcoming months. Details of Baptisms, Weddings and Funerals from the Parish Register are also included.

The social events are many and varied and include details of Jumble Sales, Race Nights, Auction of Promises Evenings and many more . All of the events are held either in the main Hall or where practical, the more comfortable lounge. The 100 Club winners are also published.

Dates and times of the annual children's events are also included . One of the most popular of these is the Monster Mash which is held as near as possible to Halloween . The November/December edition also give details of the Children's Christmas Party, which features Santa in his grotto.

In addition to forthcoming events, the magazine also features items of general interest; Adam Laskey the headmaster at St Thomas' Junior School usually keeps us up to date with what's happening at the school and there are often humourous extracts from different sources There's ususally a contribution from the Moorside and District Historical Society which is always interesting. There are also updates of events that the uniformed groups have been involved in are included at appropriate times.

Many local businesses advertise in the magazine, enabling readers to discover the services offered. Many of us prefer to use a reliable local tradesman rather than the larger companies as it's usually cheaper and of course it helps the community. If you wish to advertise in the magazine the annual charges are £40 full page, £20 half page, £10 quarter page, £5 one-eighth page. Please contact Corinne Ogden on 0161 626 7537 if you wish to enquire about placing an advert.

The magazine is available on the table at the back of church and costs 50p. It can also be delivered locally each month if preferred and only costs £5.00 a year for the 10 copies - July/August and December/January's editions in addition to each of the other months of the year. Please contact Lynn Weston on 0161 624 8767 to arrange delivery, if you'd like to receive a copy to keep in touch with what's going on in the village.
